PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an image display device, and a resin dispenser which can apply a resin composition flatly without a step part periphery protruding from a main surface part even when the resin composition is applied on the surface of a light-transmissive cover member where the step part is formed.SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing an image display device 1 where an image display member 2 and a light-transmissive cover member 6 where a step part 5 is formed between a peripheral part and a main surface part 4 by a light shielding layer 3 being formed in the peripheral part are laminated via a light-transmissive resin layer 8 formed by a liquid optical resin composition 7 in the way that the light shielding layer 3 formation surface of the light-transmissive cover member 6 is placed on the image display member 2 side. When the resin dispenser is moved from one end side to the other end side of the surface of the light shielding layer 3 formation surface of the light-transmissive cover member 6, and the liquid optical resin composition 7 is applied onto the surface of the light shielding layer 3 formation surface of the light-transmissive cover member 6, an amount of application of the optical resin composition 7 is changed between the main surface part 4 and the light shielding layer 3 of the light shielding layer 3 formation surface of the light-transmissive cover member 6.
