PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicolor heat-sensitive recording material which is low-cost and which is excellent in material selectivity, and a color developing method therefor.SOLUTION: A multicolor heat-sensitive recording material comprises: (1) a substrate 2; (2) a first heat-sensitive color developing layer 3 including a first dye precursor and a color developing compound to react with the first dye precursor and to make the same develop a color; (3) an intermediate layer 4; (4) a second heat-sensitive color developing layer 5 including a particle component containing a second dye precursor and a color developing compound to react with the second dye precursor and to make the same develop a color; and (5) a third heat-sensitive color developing layer 6 including a particle component containing a third dye precursor and a color developing compound to react with the third dye precursor and to make the same develop a color, in which the first dye precursor, the second dye precursor and the third dye precursor develop respectively different colors, the particle component containing the second dye precursor included in the second heat-sensitive color developing layer includes a composite fine particle including the second dye precursor and a polymer compound, and the particle component containing the third dye precursor included in the third heat-sensitive color developing layer includes a composite fine particle including the third dye precursor and a polymer compound. |
