PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing 3-aminophenol, in which 3-nitroaniline is industrially advantageously produced in a high yield from 1,3-dinitrobenzene by restraining an amount of the hydrogen consumption in a reductive reaction, and then 3-aminophenol is obtained in a high yield from the 3-nitroaniline through 3-nitrophenol.SOLUTION: The method for producing 3-aminophenol comprises forming 3-nitroaniline by subjecting 1,3-dinitrobenzene to a hydrogen reduction reaction in the presence of a palladium catalyst and diethylamine and then diazotizing and hydrolyzing the 3-nitroaniline to obtain 3-nitrophenol. |
