<p>The present invention addresses a problem concerning a magnetic sensor provided with a magnetoresistive element wherein suitable sensitivity characteristics are not obtained and it is not possible to determine the direction in which a magnetic field is applied. Provided is a magnetic sensor comprising a pair of permanent magnets that are arranged with a gap therebetween so that opposite poles face each other and a magnetoresistive array that is arranged between the pair of permanent magnets. In the magnetoresistive array, four magnetoresistive elements are arranged so that the maximum detection directions of neighboring elements differ from each other and the four magnetoresistive elements are connected using a bridge circuit. The pair of permanent magnets and the magnetoresistive array are arranged so that a direction that is substantially orthogonal to the magnetic field detection direction and the direction of the magnetic field between the pair of permanent magnets are neither parallel nor perpendicular to each other.</p> |
