<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve passenger restraint performance of a side airbag and to prevent the waist part of a sitting passenger from being loaded too much.SOLUTION: A side airbag device 10 is such that when a side airbag 20 expands to spread, a rear-side bag part 28 restrains rear sides of the shoulders S, chest C, and abdomen B of a sitting passenger P, and a front-side bag part 26 restrains front sides of the chest C and abdomen B, and the waist L. Further, as the internal pressure in the rear-side bag part 28 rises, straighter cloth 24 restricts a flow of gas between the front-side back part 26 and rear-side bag part 28. Consequently, the rear-side bag part 28 continuously has high internal pressure from the beginning to the later stage of restraint. The gas in the front-side bag part 26 is discharged to outside of the side air bag 20 via a vent hole 50. Consequently, the internal pressure in the front-side bag part 26 drops in the later stage of restraint in which the waist L of the sitting passenger P is loaded by a lap belt 80A.</p> |
