576,351. A.C. generators. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd., S., (formerly SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES), Ltd., S.), and MEREDITH, F. W. March 14, 1944, No. 2744. [Class 35] A generator has an unwound rotor of hysteresis material without teeth or salient poles in which alternating magnetic poles are induced by an A.C. exciting winding on the stator, current being generated in a second winding on the stator of the same frequency as that fed to the exciting winding irrespective of the rotor speed. In the form shown the plain cylindrical rotor 12 co-operates with a stator 14, 15 having slots which open outwards and are closed by a ring 16. The stator windings may be arranged similarly to those of a two-phase induction motor. |
