Rotating an image for presentation in accordance with the display apparatus orientation results in the image being easier to view. A second image (fig. 3B) played back following the playback of a first image (fig. 3A) is played or is displayed in a stopped state (fig. 3B) in dependence upon the relationship between the second image and the apparatus attitude or orientation. Alternatively, the playback of a sequence of images may be paused if the detected attitude of the display apparatus is not aligned with the orientation of an image to be displayed. Also disclosed is playing back or pausing the display of a second image following the playing of a first image in dependence on the orientation of the first image coinciding with the orientation of the second image. Also disclosed is rotating a displayed image in accordance with display apparatus orientation only if the length of time of the sequence or video is less than a predetermined time. Image orientation information may also be used. Indications on the display may assist the user, such as providing suggestion for rotation of the screen (303), or that rotation is impossible (fig. 21).
|
