Class 38 (v) In a thermal switch suitable for a refrigerator &c. a capsule 38 in expanding moves downwards an actuator 54 controlled by two toggle links 64, 66 pivoted at their inner ends to the actuator and at their outer ends to a ring shaped resilient member which may be the casing 20, Fig. 1, or a ring 425, Fig. 11, mounted within the casing 420. The toggle links are in the form of blades with knife-edges at their ends, one of their outer ends engages a cap 72 rotatably mounted on the end of an adjusting screw 70. The actuator 54, which operates a blade spring contact 32 is limited in its movement by projections 56, 58, 60, Fig. 1 or by a projection 456, Fig. 11, movable between two flanges on an adjustable screw. The capsule 38, Fig. 1, may be adjusted bodily relatively to the casing 20 by rotating a knob 50 fixed to a screwed sleeve 46 and the casing 20 is also rotatably adjustable relative to its support 76. In Fig. 11 rotation of a corresponding knob 450 raises or lowers the ring 425 by means of inclined slots in the knob engaging the bearing members 427, 429 of the ring. The capsule 38 or 438 is connected to a capillary tube 44 or 444, Figs. 1 and 11 respectively. |
