Briefly, a method and device for adjusting first and second contention-window parameters (CW min and CW max ) of a Carrier-Sense-Multiple-Access with Collision-Avoidance (CSMA/CA), mechanism of a station operating at a wireless local area network (WLAN). The method and device determine a network load of the wireless local area network and adjust the first and second contention-window parameters (CW max and CW min ) according to the network load.
