A receiver of the present invention processes a high-definition video in a block unit of 16x16 pixels and transmits lower-frequency video information of 8x8 units including DC with an existing MPEG-2 stream for broadcasting, and additionally transmits high-frequency video information of 16x16 units where the video information of 8x8 units is excluded. An existing receiver receives a basic stream and reproduces a general video. The receiver of the present invention receives the lower-frequency video information of 8x8 units which is basically transmitted and the high-frequency information of 16x16 units which is additionally transmitted, restores a high-definition video, and reproduces the video. |
