A backlight module comprises a bar for coupling, a light source and a light guide plate. The bar for coupling comprises an upper plate including a panel supporting part, a lower plate and an extending plate connecting the upper plate to the lower plate. The light source is placed on the extending plate. The light guide plate is placed at a space between the upper plate and the lower plate. Thus, the deformation of the light guide plate due to heat is prevented even when the light guide plate is thinly formed for slimming.
