<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an NOx sensor capable of easily performing the deterioration suppression and restoration of an NOx sensor, and its deterioration suppressing and restoring control unit. <P>SOLUTION: The NOx sensor, which has a pump cell 240, a monitor cell 260 and a sensor cell 250 each of which includes a pair of electrodes and uses an electrode 241 containing an Au material in the pump cell 240 and an electrode 251 the sensor cell 250 of which contains an Rh material includes heating means (212 and 214) capable of heating an object to temperature higher than the melting point of Au.
