PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly accurate, simple and inexpensive inspection method which is useful for evaluation of sperm functions. SOLUTION: A method for detecting sperm nucleus DNA fragmentation with high accuracy is discovered, a data classification method and a sperm function inspection method which are useful for simply analyzing sperm functions are established, a method for evaluating the sperm functions by a sperm head vacuole and a data analysis method for evaluation of the same are further established, and a sperm function inspection method using the sperm nucleus DNA fragmentation as an index, a sperm function inspection method using the sperm head vacuole as an index, a sperm function inspection method to be constituted by combining the inspection methods, a sperm nucleus DNA fragmentation detection method, a sperm head vacuole measurement method, a diagnostic method of male infertility, and a sperm selection method are provided based on the methods.
