PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-up display device that suppresses generation of an unnecessary image and improves display quality. SOLUTION: The head-up display device includes: a liquid crystal display element 23 that emits display light L; a concave mirror 41 that reflects display light L; and a housing 70 accommodating the liquid crystal display element 23 and concave mirror 41. The head-up display device projects display light L reflected by the concave mirror 41, onto a projecting member 13 via a light transmission part 80, thereby displaying a virtual image to an observer 14. The head-up display device includes: a circuit substrate 50 having an element driving circuit 93 that drives the liquid crystal display element 23; and a covering member 60 that covers the circuit substrate 50. The covering member 60 includes: an opening 62 through which the display light L from the liquid crystal display element 23 to the concave mirror 41 passes; and a light shielding section 63 that prevents part X1 of the display light L which does not pass through the opening 62, from reaching the light transmission part 80 via a predetermined optical path.
