DISPLAY APPARATUS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A display device comprises a backlight unit which outputs light and a display substrate provided with the light to display an image. The display substrate comprises a substrate, a first electrode, a light shielding layer, a thin layer transistor, a second electrode, liquid crystal and a color filter. The substrate has a pixel area and a non-pixel area. The first electrode is arranged at the pixel area. The light shielding layer is arranged at the non-pixel area for shielding it from the light. Further, the thin layer transistor is arranged on the light shielding layer to be electrically connected to the first electrode. The second electrode faces the first electrode with a cavity in-between. The liquid crystal is provided at the inside of the cavity. The color filter is arranged on the second electrode. The color filter is arranged closer to the backlight unit than the substrate.
