<p>An image heating apparatus 9 includes a rotatable heating member 101; a belt unit including an endless belt 105 for heating the rotatable heating member 101, and a supporting portion 103, 104 for rotatably supporting an inner surface of the endless belt 105; a contact portion (128, Fig.9) for contacting a widthwise edge of the endless belt 105; an urging portion (131, Fig.9) for urging the contact portion (128, Fig.9) toward the widthwise edge of the endless belt 105; and a detecting portion (133, 134, Fig.9) for detecting, that the endless belt 105 is out of a predetermined zone, depending on a position of the contact portion (128, Fig.9). The apparatus may further have a tilting portion for tilting the belt unit in a direction of causing the endless belt 105 to return into the predetermined zone on the basis of an output of the detecting portion (133, 134, Fig.9); and a retracting portion (211, Fig.12) for retracting the contact portion (128, Fig.9) from the endless belt 105 against an urging force of the urging portion (131, Fig.9). The apparatus may also further include a swinging portion 208 for swinging a holding portion of said two supporting rollers 103, 104.</p> |
