<p>A method of managing user interactions with an application on a mobile device are disclosed. One embodiment includes a method of mimicking, remote from the mobile device, timing characteristics of user activity with the mobile client, polling a content source on behalf of the mobile application based on the timing characteristics or pattern of the user interaction, and allowing responses cached on the mobile device from the user activity to be used until a change at the content source is detected, remote from the mobile device. In such an arrangement a proxy server and mobile device proxy client may be employed wherein a pattern associated with user interaction 2302 with a mobile client may be detected and determined 2306 by the local proxy and the pattern is notified 2310 to the proxy server which mimics or simulates 2312 the user activity and polls the content source on behalf of the mobile device using the pattern to save cellular resources and battery of the mobile device. The mobile device may use 2322 locally cached response data in response to a content request from the mobile application until such stored response data is either invalid 2314 (as it has changed at the content source as detected by the polling made by the proxy server) or has reached is time-to-live (or life-time). The time-to-live (or life-time) of the cached response may be at least in part based on the frequency that the content changes (or is updated) at the server.</p> |
