An optical multilayer film and an image display device are provided to keep desirable adhesive strength between layers and to restrain rainbow non-uniformity without increasing the refractive indexes of each adhesive layer by forming two adhesive layers. An optical multilayer film(20) is composed of: a base material(11) made of polyester with the refractive index eta1; a first adhesive layer(16) with the refractive index eta2 formed on the base material; a second adhesive layer(17) with the refractive index eta3 formed on the first adhesive layer; and a surface layer with the refractive index eta4 formed on the second adhesive layer. eta1, eta2, eta3, and eta4 satisfy the following formula, (eta1/eta4)^1/2x0.95<=eta2/eta3<=(eta1/eta4)^1/2x1.05. The surface layer is a hard coating layer(14). In addition, eta1, eta2, eta3, and eta4 satisfy the following formula, eta1<eta4 and eta2<eta3. |
