According to the present invention there is provided a split double enveloping (worm (2) for a worm gear assembly (10) comprising a rotatable shaft (18), a first worm (portion (20) fixed to the shaft (18), and a second worm portion (24) moveably coupled to the shaft (8). The first and second worm portions (20, 24) are arranged to mesh with a worm wheel (16). The worm (12) further comprises a biasing element arranged to bias the second worm portion (24) towards the first worm portion (20). A separation limiter is arranged to prevent axial separation of the second worm portion (24) with respect to the first worm portion (20). |
