A light emitting device, comprising: at least one data line; at least one pixel connected to the data line; a common electrode; a data driver which applies a first voltage to the data line; and an ammeter connected to the common electrode at a first end of the ammeter; wherein the pixel comprises a pixel drive circuit and a light emitting element, in which (a) the pixel drive circuit includes a first transistor electrically connected to (i) the data line and (ii) a first end of the light emitting element, and (b) a second end of the light emitting element is connected to the common electrode; and wherein the ammeter measures a current value of a detection current flowing from the data driver to the ammeter via the data line, the first transistor, the light emitting element of the pixel, and the common electrode when the data driver applies to the data line a first set voltage having a potential such that a forward bias voltage is applied between the first and second ends of the light emitting element via the first transistor as the first voltage.
