The present invention relates to an optical monitoring device for an optical imaging system (101) having a focal plane (Pf), an optical axis (z) and an entry pupil. The system forms an image of a scene substantially at infinity on at least one image detector (D) disposed substantially in the focal plane (Pf), and the optical monitoring device comprises at least one virtually point-like emission source (S) disposed on the periphery of the detector (D) and substantially in the focal plane (Pf); and a reflecting element (10) with a plane surface, wherein the element (10) is disposed in upstream of the optical imaging system (101) when considering the direction of propagation of light rays coming from the scene, and according to a position and an inclination such that a monitoring image (11) of the source (S) produced by the optical imaging system (101) and reflected by the element (10) is disposed substantially in the focal plane (Pf) on a detection element (D, C) connected to means for analyzing the image monitoring image (11) allowing potential optical defects to be identified, and the element (10) has an annular shape so as to allow the passage of the light rays coming from the scene and passing through the entry pupil. |
