The present invention relates to a method for displaying a screen using eye tracking in a portable terminal to store a location read by a user and display the stored location again upon chatting or texting in the portable terminal, and an apparatus thereof. According to the present invention, the method for displaying a screen using eye tracking in a portable terminal having a display unit and a camera includes a first display step of displaying a message on the display unit; an eye tracking step of shooting the eyes of the user through the camera to track a location viewed by the eyes of the user when the message is displayed; a determining step of comparing the eye tracking information tracked in the eye tracking step with the location of the message at a displayed time to determine whether the message has been read; and a second display step of displaying a message, which is not read by the eye tracking, separately from a message, which is determined as having been read by the eye tracking in the determining step.
