The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for measuring a position, which measures the position of an object using the intensity of optical signals emitted from light emitting diodes (LED). According to a desirable embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for measuring a position is to measure the position of an object using optical signals which are emitted from at least three LEDs respectively with a unique time slot or code of each of the LEDs. The apparatus for measuring a position comprises: a storing unit which stores information on the positions of LEDs, and information on a unique time slot or code of each of the LEDs; a receiving unit which receives optical signals emitted from the LEDs including the information on the unique time slot or code; an intensity measuring unit which measures the intensity of the optical signals received by the receiving unit, by LED; and a position measuring unit which measures the position of an object using the position information of the LEDs stored in the storing unit and the measured intensity of the optical signals. |
