An apparatus and a method for receiving data are provided to perform searching and tuning by a priority order using a PI(Program Identification) code when searching a TP program in radio using an RDS(Radio Data System). A user requests a TP(Traffic Program) to a receiver(S701). The receiver requests a transmission range of traffic broadcasting. And the user selects and transmits the transmission range(S702). A mode of a current receiver is checked(S703). When the mode of the receiver is a radio mode, TP received through a tuner is searched and TP is tuned in the traffic broadcasting which is suitable for the selected transmission range(S704,S705). When the mode of the receiver is not a radio mode, the TP is searched in a current mode state(S706). |
