摘要 FIELD: physics.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to contactless passive methods of detecting and locating metal objects in infrared radiation, and specifically to location of metal bodies in form a rectangular parallelepiped by detecting thermal infrared radiation emitted by said bodies, and can be used in special equipment systems designed to detect and establish the exact location and arrangement of metal objects in a medium or packaging which is not transparent for visible light, in continuous monitoring systems of security services, in inspection and measuring equipment, in communication lines and information processing devices based on metal-dielectric planar structures. Disclosed is a method for passive location of edges of a metal rectangular parallelepiped in infrared radiation, which includes measuring, in a remote wave zone, spatial intensity distribution of polarised radiation from the parallelepiped and determining coordinates of the edges from the measurement results, wherein temperature of the parallelepiped is controlled, and measurements are taken in planes that are parallel to the faces, wherein detected radiation is polarised such that it has a non-zero electric field component which is perpendicular to the edge under investigation.EFFECT: high accuracy of locating edges of a metal rectangular parallelepiped.3 dwg
