FIELD: physics, navigation.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio direction-finding and can be used in radar monitoring systems to locate short-wave radiation sources with ionospheric propagation of radio waves. The result is achieved due to that the method includes determining the height of ionospheric layers and critical frequencies, receiving radio signals using spaced-apart direction-finding antennae and receivers, determining the direction and range to a radiation source, wherein, for possible positions of the source on the range, the method includes predetermining the number and elevation angles of the arrival of beams which satisfy conditions for reflection from the ionospheric layers based on height thereof, critical frequencies and radiation wavelength. The phase incursion of signals in the antennae is then calculated for each of the beams, calculated elevation angles thereof and possible directions, after which radio signals of the source are compensated for in the received radio signals based on the calculated phase incursions. The compensated signals are quadratically detected and averaged across the antennae, and the direction and range to the radiation source are determined from the minimum of the averaging results, weighted in proportion to the number of beams.EFFECT: broader functional capabilities.8 dwg |
