摘要 #CMT# #/CMT# The generator has a light source for emission (101) of a train of optical impulses (Iin) in a periodical and coherent manner on a coherent background. A frequency spectrum of the train of impulses is arranged with a set of spectral lines with a central line and harmonics. A spectral filter is adapted to remove the central line and other even harmonics of the frequency spectrum by performing spectral filtering (102) of the train of optical impulses. The spectral filter is arranged with an interferometer such as Michelson interferometer, for setting interference for two trains of impulses. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for generation of optical impulses with a high level of repetition. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Optical impulse generator for generation of ultra-short optical impulses for an application in the field of high-speed optics. Use include but are not limited to ultra-high speed telecommunications, generation of microwave impulses from photonics, frequency combs, multi-wave lengths sources, component testing, basic building blocks for optical shaping, or optical sampling. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The spectral filter is adapted to remove the central line and other even harmonics of the frequency spectrum of the train of optical impulses, thus enabling generation of optical impulses with a high level of repetitions such as tens to hundreds of GHz, with very good accordability of the level of repetition and with reduced constraints on the parameters of the optical components.
