Novelty: a mechanism designed to increase the length of a bicycle’s driving arm is disclosed. Constitution: a longitudinal rod 4 the one end 5 of which is articulated on the spindle of a bicycle or the like; the other end of the rod 4 constitutes the piston 11 which is liable to move into the piston sleeve 12 with the assistance of the foot-driven or electrically-driven pump 15 so that the lengthof the rod 4 is augmented at the part where the pedal 13 is located. The rod 4 bears at the intermediate section -between articulation 5 and piston 11- a longitudinal aperture 7 wherein the petal-supporting pin 3 is freely moving. Operation mode: as the bicycle’s disc rotates, the pedal-supporting pin 3 is moving to and fro into the longitudinal aperture 7 while, at the same time, the rod 4 executes a pendulum-like motion. The bicyclist displaces, with the assistance of the length fluctuation mechanism, the pedal 13 located at the end of the piston 11 to stabilize it at a preferred length; namely, he is in position to change the length of the lever arm in respect to the load’s requirements. Both bicycle arms 1 have their own extension mechanism 4. Alternatively, the longitudinal rod 4 wherein the fulcrum 5a is situated is articulated to the spindle 10 of the bicycle. At one section of the rod and lengthwise thereof there is the longitudinal aperture wherein the pedal-supporting pin (base) 3 is freely moving; foot force is applied to the other end of the rod. |
