[Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXX] Apparatus for the manufacture of coated metal sheets (see Group XXII) includes a pinhole detector A comprising a light source 30 and a light sensitive-device 32. A continuous metal strip to be coated and cut into separate sheets is passed between the light source and the device 32. If light passes through a pin-hole in the strip on to the device 32, a deflector gate is operated through a time-delay relay 34 so that the final cut sheet containing the pin-hole will be deflected from the stream of finished sheets. At the output end of the apparatus the satisfactory sheets are passed one by one over a similar light sensitive device which operates a counter of known type.
