The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for power line communication which enable a transmission terminal to transmit data to be transferred by changing a voltage (amplitude) of common power supplied through a power line so as to overcome a poor channel environment in power line communication, enable a reception terminal to receive the data by sensing the voltage of the power supplied through the power line, enables all the power line communication in a transmission range of 220V/60Hz by removing the limit of transmission power so as to remove the limit of distance, reduce influence of load interference and noise by measuring the RMS voltage of the power line so as to equalize and remove the noise when sensing the voltage, remove uncertainty of signal attenuation by increasing (several hundred times or more) the impedance of the power line of 60Hz in comparison with a conventionally used power line communication frequency, and remove a need for a frequency modulation technique using a frequency modulation device and a need for an additional coupler device by using a voltage change device.
