The claimed watchtower relates to armoured viewing cabins, mounted on supports, for housing a sentry on the perimeter of a guarded site. The cabin is in the form of a convex double-layered polyhedron. Each layer consists of polygonal armoured plates, the side edges of which are interconnected. The demountable cabin consists of flat ribs (7) with slots, into which flat plate-like inserts (8) with slots are inserted by alignment of the respective slots. The armoured plates (5, 6) of the adjacent layers are connected to a common insert (8) by bolts (15) disposed in parallel. The join (17) between two armoured plates (5) of the same layer is covered by the side edge of one of the plates. The ribs, the inserts and the armoured plates are laser cut from sheet metal. Inside the inserts (8) are cut-outs (12), in which are mounted female screws or fastening bars (9) with parallel openings and an internal screw thread for non-coaxial bolt connections (16) between the inserts (8) and the armoured plates (5, 6) of the inner and outer layers of the housing. This improves masking and transportability to the assembly site, promotes manufacturability, reduces maintenance costs, increases resistance to bullets, reduces labour intensity and simplifies assembly and repair. The watchtower can be rapidly installed and repaired in field conditions. The invention can be used in systems for safeguarding the perimeter of strategically significant sites. |
