摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet device including a piezoelectric element using a piezoelectric material that shows an electric-field-induced phase transition, and capable of driving heads at desired amplitude.SOLUTION: A liquid jet device includes: a piezoelectric element that includes a pressure generation chamber communicating with a nozzle opening from which liquid is discharged, a first electrode, a piezoelectric layer formed on the first electrode, and a second electrode formed on the piezoelectric layer; and driving means for generating a pressure change in the pressure generation chamber, and supplying a drive signal for discharging a liquid droplet from the nozzle opening to the piezoelectric element. The piezoelectric layer shows an electric-field-induced phase transition. If it is assumed that a voltage having a larger absolute value is Vand a voltage having a smaller absolute value is VF out of the voltages at which the piezoelectric layer goes through the electric-field-induced phase transition, the driving means supplies to the piezoelectric element the drive signal for changing a voltage having an absolute value within a range equal to or larger than VF with a voltage after being applied to the piezoelectric layer and going through Vand having an absolute value equal to or larger than VF set as a reference point, thereby generating the pressure change in the pressure generation chamber to discharge the liquid droplet from the nozzle opening.
