GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF PORTS OF MULTIPLE TYPES

A system and method graphically display ports in a discrete event system (DES) environment. A graphical representation of a model having at least one DES component is provided in the DES environment. A first port of the DES component and a second port of the DES component are indicated by symbols. The first port is indicated by a first symbol representing a port type of the DES environment and the second port is indicated by a second symbol representing a port type of a non-DES environment.

1. A non-transitory storage medium storing electronic device readable instructions for graphically displaying ports in a discrete event system (DES) environment, the instructions comprising instructions for:
providing a non-DES environment associated with a non-DES data entity; providing a graphical representation of an executable model having at least one multidomain resource present in the DES environment, the multidomain resource comprising:
a first port indicated by a first symbol representing a port type of the DES environment, anda second port indicated by a second symbol representing a port type of the non-DES environment; converting the non-DES data entity into a format compatible with the DES environment; receiving a DES data entity at the first port of the multidomain resource and the non-DES data entity at the second port of the multidomain resource; and manipulating the non-DES data entity and the DES data entity with the multidomain resource.
