725,063. Reciprocating electric motors. TREMBLAY, J. L. June 11, 1953, No. 16121/53. Class 35. [Also in Groups VI, XXVIII and XXIX] A reciprocating pump comprises a tube 28 containing two bellows 35, 36 connected at their ends to caps 43, 44 and also to an armature member 34 which is reciprocated by electromagnets 30, 31, 32 surrounding the tube 28; the electromagnet 30 moves the armature in one direction and the electromagnets 31, 32 in the other direction. The tube 28 is welded to a container 14, filled with liquid and fitted with a circulator rotor 23 driven by a motor 20; a heating coil 26 is fitted in the casing to maintain the temperature of the liquid pumped. The system for energizing the electromagnet 30 or the electromagnets 31, 32 includes a commutator driven by a variable-speed electric motor, adjustable to vary the speed of the pump, and actuating two relays alternately controlling the output of each of two thermionic valves. The pressure of the liquid pumped is controlled by varying the voltage and grid bias applied to the valves.
