A printing system, a printing method therefor, and a printer are disclosed. The printing system comprises a print request device (10) and a printer (20). The print request device (10) comprises a first device (17) and a second device (18). The printer (20) is provided with a first logical interface (25) and a second logical interface (26). A print-operation system (102) and a monitor-and-control program (103) are installed on the print request device (10). The print-operation system (102) is used to send print data to the printer (20) via the first device (17) and the first logical interface (25). The monitor-and-control program (103) is used to monitor and control the status of the printer (20) by means of the second device (18) and the second logical interface (26). The present invention solves the problem in the art of operating systems limiting the ability of printing systems to query the status of a printer. The printing system of the present invention is not limited by the operating system and allows the user to query printer status when needed.
