The present invention minimizes the erroneous operation of stability control caused by a neutral-position shift. A clutch (19) for intermittently connecting a steering shaft (12) and a pinion shaft (18) is interposed between a steering input mechanism (StIN) in which the steering shaft (12) rotates as a result of the steering operation of a driver, and a steering output mechanism (StOUT) in which a wheel is steered as a result of the rotations of the pinion shaft (18). In addition, the present invention is equipped with a first steering motor (M1) and a second steering motor (M2) which are capable of imparting steering force to the steering output mechanism. The first steering motor (M1) and the second steering motor (M2) are drive-controlled in a manner such that a wheel steering angle (&thetas;w) corresponding to the steering operation of the driver is achieved while the clutch (19) is blocked. The stability control is difficult to execute during the interval (when fn≠0) when a neutral-position shift occurs in which the neutral position of the steering shaft (12) and the neutral position of the pinion shaft (18) differ from one another. |
