The method involves detecting an object (24) in the surrounding of a motor vehicle (10) with positioning devices (16, 18) of a motor vehicle (10). Danger of probable collision of the motor vehicle with the detected object is determined by an evaluation unit (12) based on position data of the positioning devices. Acoustical warning signals are outputted over a horn (20) of the motor vehicle to possible road users in a front end of the motor vehicle based on the determined collision danger, where the warning signals are immediately perceptible for human senses. An independent claim is also included for a device for warning against collision of a motor vehicle.
