PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve adhesive characteristics of fluoropolymers that exhibit excellent chemical barrier properties, and provide a method for making multilayer articles using the same.SOLUTION: A barrier structure 100 includes a fluoropolymer layer 102 and a polymeric layer 106. The fluoropolymer layer 102 has a surface 104 subjected to corona discharge treatment in an organic gas atmosphere. The barrier structure has a chemical permeation breakthrough detection time greater than about one hour for hazardous chemicals as measured by ASTM F739.
