DATA COMPRESSION METHOD, AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data compression method and an apparatus for performing the method.SOLUTION: The data compression method includes the steps of: receiving an input data stream including a previous data block and a current data block; executing, in parallel, a first comparison which compares a part of the previous data block with a part of a previous reference data block and a second comparison which compares the current data block with a current reference data block; and outputting the current data block or compressing an extended data block on the basis of results of the first comparison and second comparison. The extended data block includes the part of the previous data block and the current data block.
