A novel intelligent transformer and an application method therefor. The intelligent transformer comprises a transformer and an information acquisition and conversion device. A UHF sensor is arranged at the inner wall of the transformer, an ultrasonic sensor is arranged at each corner thereof, a vibration sensor is arranged at a lower clamping piece in the transformer, a stress sensor is arranged both at the upper part and the lower part of an iron core thereof, an HFCT sensor is arranged at a ground outlet of the iron core, and a signal wire of the sensor is connected to a leading-out terminal at the top of the transformer. The intelligent transformer can monitor the working condition of a transformer in real time, correctly judge the running state of the transformer, and realize intelligentization of the transformer.
