<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering apparatus capable of giving a steering auxiliary force appropriately even if a fault occurs in a vehicle speed detection signal. <P>SOLUTION: The electric power steering apparatus, which includes an electric motor 12 for giving the steering auxiliary force to a steering system, calculates a steering auxiliary torque command value based on vehicle speed V and steering torque T and controls the drive of the electric motor 12 based on the steering auxiliary torque command value.
