<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus capable of quickly grasping an image subjected to desired picture tone conversion even if there are many images, and also reproducing the display image even on another apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Each piece of thumbnail image data is read from four image files (step S101), the four pieces of the read thumbnail image data are respectively subjected to picture tone conversion processing with three types of picture tones (step S102), and four images in total of a corresponding thumbnail and three picture tone conversion images are displayed on a liquid crystal display panel 3 in a row direction (step S103). In an image displayed in four rows and four columns, when page feeding is performed in a column direction, the next thumbnail image data is displayed (step S106), and image conversion processing is performed with the same three types of picture tones. When page feeding is performed in the row direction, the thumbnail image remains as it is, and picture tone conversion is performed with different three types of picture tones (step S105).
