The invention enables mass production without causing shortening of the life of a press-fitting member even while further improving the joint strength between a tool main body and a connecting member. In an exchangeable head cutting tool in which a tool main body (1A) made of a hard material and a connecting member (2) made of a metal material having a lower hardness than the hard material are joined to each other by inserting a cylindrical mounting portion (21) of the connecting member (2) into a mounting hole (16) formed in the tool main body (1A) and having concave portions (16a) in an inner peripheral surface, and plastically deforming the mounting portion (21) so as to expand a diameter thereof, thereby bringing an outer peripheral surface of the mounting portion (21) into close contact with the inner peripheral surface of the mounting hole (16) and thus making the outer peripheral surface of the mounting portion (21) engage with the concave portions (16a), a diameter expanding member (4) having a higher hardness than the connecting member (2) is press-fitted into and fixed to an inner peripheral portion of the mounting portion (21) and the mounting portion (21) is plastically deformed by the diameter expanding member (4).
