A multi-piece insert device for an ophthalmic lens comprising a first insert back curve piece (940), a first insert front curve piece (310), a conductive material upon one or both of the insert pieces, an electronic component attached to one or both of the insert pieces, a self-locking feature (970) which fixedly holds the insert pieces together to seal a first cavity interior to the combination of the insert pieces.
