Method for controlling a harvesting process of a combine harvester

The method involves transferring crop from separation device (4,18) to cleaning device (5). The air flow from fan (14) is made to act upon sieve (15,16) of cleaning device, to loosen crop. The current separation curves of crop across width of cleaning device at points separated from each other in conveyance direction (FR) is determined. The loosening phase present in conveyance direction is detected by comparing evaluated current separation curves. The action depending on detected loosening phase is initiated, to optimize loosening on section of cleaning device. An independent claim is included for combine harvester.
