A control 100, particularly a modular multi-function operation device, for a spoke 12 of a motor vehicle steering wheel 10 has a turn-push rotary wheel 125 rotatable about an axis 130 that is obliquely mounted by an angular contact bearing 140. Control 100 projects radially and axially. Bearing 140 allows the angle of axis 130 to vary, allowing wheel 125 to rock. Wheel 125 is coupled to at least one sensor 123, 124, preferably a pressure sensor 123 and a rotation sensor 124. Wheel 125 may have an illuminated section (L, Figure 7). A housing 110 may allow a part of wheel 125 to obliquely protrude, and a foldable lid 112 may selectively conceal wheel 125 while allowing buttons (122, Figure 7) to project. Control 100 may control a vehicle radio, telephone or navigation system, providing ergonomic control while avoiding excessive distraction from traffic. |
