PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightly coated paper for printing, which has bulkiness, high whiteness and excellent feeling of printing surface in spite of having a small coated amount. SOLUTION: The coated paper for printing is obtained by coating base paper that is composed of mechanical pulp produced by refining broadleaf wood chips under normal pressure or under pressure and has a density of≤0.70 g/cm<SP>3</SP>with a coating liquid that contains pigment and a starch as an adhesive in the amount of 10-50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the pigment by a film transfer method in an oven dry weight of 0.5-5 g/m<SP>2</SP>per side.
