<p>The invention relates to a filter candle for a backflush filter comprising filter candles and at least one backflushing member for filtering in particular seawater or saltwater, the candle having a cylindrical filter wall 34 through which fluid to be purified can flow, two filter candle ends 31, 32, an interior 35 enclosed by the filter wall, and at least one flushing element 40 in the interior, which is rotatable about a longitudinal axis L of the filter candle, is provided with a radially projecting flushing gap 45 for backflushing the filter wall. In order to improve the backflushing by high cleaning action, the flushing element 40 is rotatably mounted on the filter candle 30, is formed as a conical hollow shaft with a closed small shaft end 43 and with an axially open large shaft end 42, between which the flushing gap 45 extends, and is torque proof connected to at least one turbine wheel 51 as a driving member arranged in the filter candle.
