Provided are a wastewater treatment device and a wastewater treatment method capable of removing ammonium ions from wastewater at high efficiency. The wastewater treatment device comprises an aerobic denitrification bath (1) which receives target wastewater (30) and contains nitrifying bacteria (20) for generating NO2^- using NH4^+ in the target wastewater (30) and denitrifying bacteria (21) for generating N2 using NO2^- generated by the nitrifying bacteria (20) and NH4^+ in the target wastewater (30); and a denitrification bath (2) which receives treated water (31) after the treatment of the aerobic denitrification bath (1) and contains denitrifying bacteria (21) generating N2 using NO2^- and NH4^+.
