Fall-arresting safety apparatus on a rope with blocking function

The apparatus has a rigid body provided with a trunking for housing a rope, and a securing system comprising a rotary roller (16) to detect speed of rotation. The roller is fit on a mobile arm moved between blocking and released positions of the rope. A control selector (23) of a ratchet (26) occupies an inactive releasing position to enable the roller to rotate in rotation directions in a fall arrest operating mode, and an active unidirectional blocking position of the roller relative to the arm in a descending direction in another operating mode of the apparatus as a simple ascender.
